Es ist die einzige offizielle Veröffentlichung in Album-Länge mit Sänger Per „Dead“ Yngve Ohlin: Das Mayhem-Album LIVE IN LEIPZIG feiert jetzt sein 25-jähriges Jubiläum. Zu diesem Anlass wird es am 27. November in einer neuen und überarbeiteten Auflage erscheinen.

Das legendäre Konzert fand am 26. November 1990 im Eiskeller in Leipzig statt und sollte tragischerweise den Legenden-Status erhalten, da der Konzertmitschnitt die einzige Aufnahme der wegweisenden Black Metal-Band darstellt, auf der Sänger Dead zu hören ist.

Per „Dead“ Yngve Ohlin verübte wenig später, am 8. April 1991, mit einer Schrotflinte Suizid. Bilder des toten Mayhem-Frontmannes, geschossen von Gitarrist Euronymous, erlangten als Cover-Artwork eines Live-Bootlegs (DAWN OF THE BLACK HEARTS, 1995) der Norweger Berühmtheit.

„Marking almost 25 years to the day since the now-legendary show, and to be released on November 27^th on Peaceville Records, this new 25^th anniversary edition of Mayhem’s ‘Live in Leipzig’ will come on 2CD and vinyl formats, including liner notes and recollections from band members Hellhammer & Necrobutcher, among others from the scene, as well as some rare pictures and letters surrounding the event. The CD edition notably contains a bonus disc featuring the official release of the band’s performance in Zeitz, Germany as part of the same tour in November 1990. Also features the original iconic cover artwork from the album’s first pressing in 1993.
The first vinyl pressing will be limited to 1000 copies on coloured vinyl.“
